FINCH – One of the region’s conservation authorities is warning about possible flooding this week as a warm spell takes hold of the region.
South Nation Conservation Authority issued the advisory Friday and is calling for higher river levels and flows over the next week.
“At present, stream flows are slightly below normal in some areas of the jurisdiction. Any increase in water levels is not a concern at this time; however, nuisance flooding in low-lying areas may be observed,” the authority said.
People are being cautioned to stay away from rivers and for parents to tell their children about the dangers of rivers and streams.
The advisory is in effect through Friday, March 11, 2016.
The South Nation Conservation Authority oversees portions of watershed that are in Leeds-Grenville, including Augusta Township, Edwardsburgh-Cardinal and North Grenville.
