BROCKVILLE – A man from the Brockville-area is facing several driving-related charges after leaving a trail of damage through the city Friday.

Police say a vehicle slammed into the back of another vehicle on Stewart Boulevard just after 8 p.m.

The suspect then drove off down Central Avenue, the wrong way (west in the eastbound lanes), smashing into another vehicle and also hitting a retaining wall.

The accused then drove down Perth Street and Front Avenue before his car gave out from all the damage – but not before hitting two more vehicles.

That’s when cops finally caught up with the 24-year-old driver and arrested him.

He was charged with two counts of failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

A Breathalyzer test also indicated the man was two-and-a-half times over the legal limit, said Brockville police.

“Police found it hard to believe that no one was injured during the rampage. Heavy damage was sustained by most of the vehicles and the entire front end of the suspect’s vehicle was destroyed,” said Staff Sgt. Todd Bertrend in a statement.

The man’s name was not released.
