Woman charged in power of attorney fraud case

GANANOQUE – A woman has been arrested, accused of abusing her position as a power of attorney.

The 63-year-old was charged yesterday (Dec. 22) with theft by a person holding a power of attorney, theft over $5,000, fraud over $5,000 and criminal breach of trust.

Gananoque police only said the charges were a result of an ongoing investigation but did not release specifics of the case.

The accused was conditionally released with a promise to appear in court at a later date.
