Hurricane leftovers to hit Leeds-Grenville Wednesday

BROCKVILLE – A remnants of hurricane Patricia are expected to move into Leeds-Grenville on Wednesday bringing a lot of rain and a lot of wind.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement at 6 a.m. Tuesday.

It says the rain will start sometime on Wednesday and will be heavy at times. There could be 25 to 40 millimeters of rain in most areas but 40 to 50 millimeters are possible closer to the Great Lakes.

The wind is also going to pick up with gusts up to 70 kilometers an hour and may cause some tree damage and power outages, especially where trees fall on hydro lines.

Environment Canada isn’t ruling out the possibility of some rainfall warnings (that’s when 50 millimeters of rain falls within 24 hours).

This is the same system that flooded out Texas.

The system is expected to move into northern Quebec by Friday.
